Stop Fiddling With That! You'll Break It!

Over the last year or so I've found myself increasingly "fiddling" with technology I own.

Having thought about it, It's always been a part of me since childhood but has been suppressed for the last 15 years - possibly as a result of the bollocking I got for taking apart (and failing to successfully reassemble) my Dads 19th century pocketwatch.

Since moving out and away from my dads watchful gaze I've started doing this again. Putting a bigger hard drive in my PS3 kinda worked, installing Android on my first gen iPhone and more recently taking apart my iPhone 4 and replacing the glass back with a metal one. Bizarrely this makes it look more like the old version but also has a nice retro charm to it.

The irony of referring to a three year old phone as "retro" isn't lost on me by the way!

I'm not sure why I do stuff like this though. I guess some of it is just to see how hard it is, sometimes it seems to be for more practical reasons. Maybe it's a repressed need to show my dad that I don't break everything I touch.

...still don't think he'll let me anywhere near that pocketwatch though.
